Illinois Performance Excellence celebrates five recipients of its 2015 Awards for Excellence

Peoria, Ill. – April 1, 2016 – Illinois Performance Excellence (ILPEx) hosted the 21st annual Saluting Excellence Award Ceremony on March 23 at the Hyatt Lodge on the McDonald’s Campus in Oak Brook. During the event, ILPEx recognized five organizations that were selected by its panel of judges as the 2015 recipients of the ILPEx Awards for Excellence. ILPEx is Illinois’ only statewide program patterned after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, managed by the U.S. Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology.

This annual award celebration highlights award recipients who have integrated principles of excellence into their mission and day-to-day work, which leads to growing our state’s economy and competitiveness.

Two organizations were awarded the 2015 ILPEx Silver Award for “Progress toward Excellence,” which demonstrates sound and notable continuous improvement processes. They are:

American College of Healthcare Executives – Chicago

Integrated Project Management, Inc. – Burr Ridge

Three organizations received the 2015 ILPEx Bronze Award for “Commitment to Excellence” for their earnest efforts to adopt and apply continuous improvement principles. These organizations are:

HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital – Effingham

National Express – Warrenville

Saint Anthony Hospital – Chicago

“The ILPEx Awards for Excellence award recipients understand that performance improvement is a continuous process that requires commitment across the organization,” said David Boulay, Executive Director of Illinois Performance Excellence. “Across the five recipients we hear of the criticality of integrating processes for efficiency that fit with the organization’s mission and values. These are outstanding examples of organizations that understand the impact and benefits of a shared vision and alignment of processes for efficiency, focus and sustained performance.

Attendees heard from keynote speaker Larry Potterfield, Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA, a two-time recipient of the Baldrige National Quality Award. Potterfield reflected on MidwayUSA’s commitment to organizational excellence, which requires inclusion of and support from the entire staff. An enthusiastic champion of the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence, Potterfield shared how MidwayUSA operates on a set of values that emulates the effective Criteria, stressing the importance of other excellence-focused companies doing the same.
