Peoria, IL (December 14, 2016) The ILPEx Recognition Program has announced the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) of Chicago, IL as a recipient of the 2016 ILPEx Gold Award for Achievement of Excellence. ACHE will be formally honored at the annual award ceremony and recognition dinner on March 30, 2017, at the Hyatt Lodge at Hamburger University located in Oak Brook, IL.
“I am pleased that the ILPEx Recognition Program has recognized ACHE with its Gold Award for Achievement of Excellence. This honor is meaningful to us not only because of the award, but because of the significant progress and outcomes it represents,” said Deborah J. Bowen, President and CEO of the American College of Healthcare Executives. “Earning the ILPEx Gold Award is an encouraging milestone along ACHE’s journey toward performance excellence using the Baldrige framework. We will continue our focus on improvement, and on delivering exceptional value and quality to our members and the healthcare management profession.”
The ILPEx Gold Award for Achievement of Excellence is granted to those organizations who demonstrate effective and systematic continuous improvement processes and principles based on the Baldrige Excellence Framework. An ILPEx Gold recipient exhibits the ability to display measures to track operational and strategic goals and execute improvement processes that are integrated, repeatable and regularly evaluated. Gold award recipients serve as a true role model for organizations on the Baldrige journey.

“As an organization that promotes the value of performance excellence to its members, ACHE has demonstrated true leadership in attaining the ILPEx Gold Award themselves,” said Ben Krupowicz, Executive Director of the ILPEx Recognition Program. “The Gold Award is rare, with only 12 awards granted to over 270 applicants since 1994, and we are delighted ACHE has achieved this distinction in 2016.”
To improve its offerings and service to the healthcare management profession, ACHE is on a Baldrige journey of systematic improvement. ILPEx recognized ACHE with this 2016 Gold Award for Achievement of Excellence after multiple cycles of application, evaluation and improvement that began in 2011. ACHE was recognized with an ILPEx Silver Award for Progress toward Excellence in 2014 and 2015, and a Bronze Award for Commitment to Excellence in 2011. The organization continues to use feedback from examiners combined with internal assessments based on the Baldrige Excellence Framework to prioritize and address its most meaningful opportunities for improvement. Studying other organizations’ successes has also been a key component to ACHE’s success thus far. The organization plans to continue pursuing performance excellence based on the Baldrige framework.
The 2016 ILPEx Board of Examiners – comprised of 45 experts in business, education, health care and government – volunteered over 9,800 hours assessing each applicant in seven categories: leadership; strategic planning; customer focus; measurement, analysis and knowledge management; workforce; operations; and results. The ILPEx Panel of Judges is responsible for validating the integrity of the ILPEx Awards for Excellence recognition cycle and determining recognition levels for each applicant. The panel is composed of experts selected from all industry sectors and geographic regions across the state of Illinois.
Since 1994, there have been 270 ILPEx Award for Excellence applicants and approximately 1,500 examiners, representing over 150,000 hours of work, resulting in appropriately $7 million in volunteered time – all to make Illinois organizations more competitive, create jobs, and improve communities. As your preferred resource for growth and enterprise excellence, IMEC also offers training and support to help you address the Baldrige Criteria from leadership to results.
